"Pastoral Care" is not just the ministry provided by the priest, but also applies to people in the congregation who offer help and caring to others in the church or wider community. It is a ministry of listening, supporting, encouraging and befriending.
In 2009 an "Encouragement Card Ministry" was started, which involves sending cards and notes to church members who are ill, have experienced a recent loss or are just going through a difficult time. Shut-ins receive cards on a monthly basis.
"Casserole Care" is another component of Pastoral Care. This program generally provides a meal to parishioners who have recently come home from the hospital. There is currently a supply of meals in our church freezer for occasions such as this. We continue to explore ways to make this program work better to meet the needs of our parish. A goal for this program is to have a group of trained individuals who can assist the priest with visits and delivering food.
