Grace Church has an active acolyte program for 4th to 12th graders. Acolytes help light the altar candles, lead the processional, and assist the deacon or priest in setting the table before Communion. Being an acolyte provides children and young adults with a unique opportunity to more fully participate in the worship service.
-
The Altar Guild is a volunteer group who care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens used in worship. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services and clean up afterwards. They also supervise the decoration of the altar with flowers.
-
Our choir meets every Wednesday at 7:00 pm for rehearsals (no audition needed) and sings at the 10:30 service every Sunday, as well as at special liturgies and concerts. Read more about our music and listen to samples here.
-
Lay Eucharistic Ministers wear vestments, take part in the processional, and assist in serving communion. Typically they pass the cup of wine while a priest or deacon shares the bread.
-
Lay readers (or lectors) read the Old and New Testament lessons at Sunday morning worship and other special occasions, such as the Passion Gospel during Holy Week. Becoming a reader is a simple but meaningful way to contribute to our worship.
-
Ushers welcome everyone who comes to worship, hand out bulletins, assist with the offertory, and help guide worshippers to the table for Communion, the breaking of bread and wine. This is an important role in the service because ushers provide a welcoming atmosphere for newcomers and parishioners alike.

Vergers help lead the procession into church and assist the priests and deacons with their duties throughout the service. This role dates back to the Middle Ages, when vergers were task to protect the procession at a time when it walked through the public square of the town.
