Lay Readers

Our Sunday morning liturgy includes four passages from the Holy Scripture that are read out loud – one from the Old Testament, one from the book of Psalms, one from one of the four Gospel books, and one from the Epistles of the New Testament.
The Gospel is read by one of our deacons, and the other three are read by members of our congregation – laymen who are not ordained clergy. These Lay Readers take turns according to a schedule made up by our Acolyte Coordinator. Special training sessions are held in our church several times a year.
